Numbers 25:14

Now the name of the man of ISRAEL that was slain, who was slain with the Midianite woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers' house among the Simeonites.


Numbers 26:1-65

1. After the plague, the LORD spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,
2. "Take a census of all the congregation of the children of ISRAEL, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers' houses, all who are able to go out to war in ISRAEL."
3. Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,
4. "Take a census, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of ISRAEL."These are those that came out of the land of Egypt.
5. Reuben, the firstborn of ISRAEL; the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
6. of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
7. These are the families of the Reubenites; and those who were counted of them were forty-three thousand seven hundred thirty.
8. The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9. The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are that Dathan and Abiram, who were called by the congregation, who rebelled against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they rebelled against The LORD,
10. and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died; at the time the fire devoured two hundred fifty men, and they became a sign.
11. Notwithstanding, the sons of Korah didn't die.
12. The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites;
13. of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.
14. These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty-two thousand two hundred.
15. The sons of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;
16. of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of Eri, the family of the Erites;
17. of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites.
18. These are the families of the sons of Gad according to those who were counted of them, forty thousand and five hundred.
19. The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20. The sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Perezites; of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites.
21. The sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.
22. These are the families of Judah according to those who were counted of them, seventy-six thousand five hundred.

25. These are the families of Issachar according to those who were counted of them, sixty-four thousand three hundred.
26. The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Seredites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.
27. These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those who were counted of them, sixty thousand five hundred.
28. The sons of Joseph after their families: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29. The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir became the father of Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites.
30. These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the family of the Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites;
31. and Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;
32. and Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
33. Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
34. These are the families of Manasseh. Those who were counted of them were fifty-two thousand seven hundred.
35. These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the family of the Becherites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.
36. These are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.
37. These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those who were counted of them, thirty-two thousand five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.
38. The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;
39. of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.
40. The sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.
41. These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those who were counted of them were forty-five thousand six hundred.
42. These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.
43. All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those who were counted of them, were sixty-four thousand four hundred.
44. The sons of Asher after their families: of Imnah, the family of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the family of the Berites.
45. Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites.
46. The name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.
47. These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those who were counted of them, fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
48. The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;
49. of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
50. These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those who were counted of them were forty-five thousand four hundred.
51. These are those who were counted of the children of ISRAEL, six hundred one thousand seven hundred thirty.
52. The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
53. "To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.
54. To the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance. To everyone according to those who were counted of him shall his inheritance be given.
55. Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot. According to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.
56. According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer."
57. These are those who were counted of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58. These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korahites. Kohath became the father of Amram.
59. The name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. She bore to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
60. To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61. Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before The LORD.
62. Those who were counted of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not counted among the children of ISRAEL, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of ISRAEL.
63. These are those who were counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who counted the children of ISRAEL in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.
64. But among these there was not a man of them who were counted by Moses and Aaron the priest, who counted the children of ISRAEL in the wilderness of Sinai.
65. For the LORD had said of them, "They shall surely die in the wilderness." There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

Numbers 36:1

The heads of the fathers' households of the family of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the heads of the fathers' households of the children of ISRAEL.


Joshua 7:14

"'In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which the LORD selects shall come near by families. The family which the LORD selects shall come near by households. The household which the LORD selects shall come near man by man.


1 Chronicles 4:1-43

1. The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.
2. Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.
3. These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. The name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.
4. Penuel was the father of Gedor and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.
5. Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
7. The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.
8. Hakkoz became the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
9. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him with sorrow."
10. Jabez called on the God of ISRAEL, saying, "Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border! May your hand be with me, and may you keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!"God granted him that which he requested.
11. Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12. Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.
13. The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath.
14. Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen.
15. The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
16. The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
17. The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
18. His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.
19. The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
20. The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben Zoheth.
21. The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;
22. and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. These records are ancient.
23. These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: they lived there with the king for his work.
24. The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;
25. Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son.
26. The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.
27. Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn't have many children, and all their family did not multiply like the children of Judah.
28. They lived at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazarshual,
29. at Bilhah, at Ezem, at Tolad,
30. at Bethuel, at Hormah, at Ziklag,
31. at Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susim, at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities until David's reign.
32. Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;
33. and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their settlements, and they have their genealogy.
34. Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah,
35. Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
36. Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,
37. and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah-
38. these mentioned by name were princes in their families. Their fathers' houses increased greatly.
39. They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40. They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceful; for those who lived there before were descended from Ham.
41. These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents. The Meunim who were found there, and they destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks.
42. Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43. They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

1 Chronicles 5:1-26

1. The sons of Reuben the firstborn of ISRAEL (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of ISRAEL; and the genealogy is not to be listed according to the birthright.
2. For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and from him came the prince; but the birthright was Joseph's)-
3. the sons of Reuben the firstborn of ISRAEL: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4. The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5. Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
6. and Beerah his son, whom Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive. He was prince of the Reubenites.
7. His brothers by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was listed: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8. and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal Meon;
9. and he lived eastward even to the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, because their livestock were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10. In the days of Saul, they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they lived in their tents throughout all the land east of Gilead.
11. The sons of Gad lived over against them, in the land of Bashan to Salecah:
12. Joel the chief, Shapham the second, Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13. Their brothers of their fathers' houses: Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber, seven.
14. These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
15. Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of their fathers' houses.
16. They lived in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as their borders.
17. All these were listed by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of ISRAEL.
18. The sons of Reuben, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skillful in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred sixty, that were able to go out to war.
19. They made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
20. They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he was answered them, because they put their trust in him.
21. They took away their livestock; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand.
22. For many fell slain, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until the captivity.
23. The children of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land: they increased from Bashan to Baal Hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon.
24. These were the heads of their fathers' houses: even Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, heads of their fathers' houses.
25. They trespassed against the God of their fathers, and played the prostitute after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26. So the God of ISRAEL stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.

1. The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
2. The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.
3. The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
4. Eleazar became the father of Phinehas, Phinehas became the father of Abishua,
5. Abishua became the father of Bukki. Bukki became the father of Uzzi.
6. Uzzi became the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah became the father of Meraioth.
7. Meraioth became the father of Amariah. Amariah became the father of Ahitub.

16. The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
17. These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
18. The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
19. The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers' households.
20. Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,
21. Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.
22. The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
23. Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,

25. The sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth.
26. As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah: Zophai his son, Nahath his son,

31. These are they whom David set over the service of song in The LORD's house, after the ark came to rest there.

44. On the left hand their brothers the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

47. the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
48. Their brothers the Levites were appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of God's house.
49. But Aaron and his sons offered on the altar of burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the most holy place, and to make atonement for ISRAEL, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.
50. These are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
51. Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,
52. Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
53. Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.
54. Now these are their dwelling places according to their encampments in their borders: to the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites (for theirs was the first lot),
55. to them they gave Hebron in the land of Judah, and its suburbs around it;
56. but the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
57. To the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge, Hebron; Libnah also with its suburbs, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its suburbs,
58. Hilen with its suburbs, Debir with its suburbs,
59. Ashan with its suburbs, and Beth Shemesh with its suburbs;
60. and out of the tribe of Benjamin, Geba with its suburbs, Allemeth with its suburbs, and Anathoth with its suburbs. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities.
61. To the rest of the sons of Kohath were given by lot, out of the family of the tribe, out of the half-tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities.
62. To the sons of Gershom, according to their families, out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
63. To the sons of Merari were given by lot, according to their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
64. The children of ISRAEL gave to the Levites the cities with their suburbs.
65. They gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities which are mentioned by name.
66. Some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their borders out of the tribe of Ephraim.
67. They gave to them the cities of refuge, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim with its suburbs; Gezer also with its suburbs,
68. Jokmeam with its suburbs, Beth Horon with its suburbs,
69. Aijalon with its suburbs, Gath Rimmon with its suburbs;
70. and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Aner with its suburbs, and Bileam with its suburbs, for the rest of the family of the sons of Kohath.
71. To the sons of Gershom were given, out of the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, and Ashtaroth with its suburbs;
72. and out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedesh with its suburbs, Daberath with its suburbs,
73. Ramoth with its suburbs, and Anem with its suburbs;
74. and out of the tribe of Asher, Mashal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,
75. Hukok with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs;
76. and out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, Hammon with its suburbs, and Kiriathaim with its suburbs.
77. To the rest of the Levites, the sons of Merari, were given, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono with its suburbs, Tabor with its suburbs;
78. and beyond the Jordan at Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, were given them, out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with its suburbs, and Jahzah with its suburbs,
79. Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs;
80. and out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, Mahanaim with its suburbs,
81. Heshbon with its suburbs, and Jazer with its suburbs.

1 Chronicles 7:1-40

1. Of the sons of Issachar: Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four.
2. The sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their fathers' houses, of Tola; mighty men of valor in their generations. Their number in the days of David was twenty-two thousand six hundred.
3. The son of Uzzi: Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah: Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah, five; all of them chief men.
4. With them, by their generations, after their fathers' houses, were bands of the army for war, thirty-six thousand; for they had many wives and sons.
5. Their brothers among all the families of Issachar, mighty men of valor, listed in all by genealogy, were eighty-seven thousand.
6. The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, and Jediael, three.
7. The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of fathers' houses, mighty men of valor; and they were listed by genealogy twenty-two thousand thirty-four.
