BEREAVEMENT, RESIGNATION IN

2 Samuel 12:22-23

22. He said, "While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who knows whether the LORD will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?'
23. But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."

Job 1:18-21

18. While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,
19. and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you."
20. Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.
21. He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be The LORD's name."

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

2. It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men, and the living should take this to heart.
3. Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made good.
4. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13. But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15. For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
16. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
17. then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
18. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
